The 840 (S33400) alloy is an austenitic stainless steel containing titanium and aluminum. It contains enough chromium to form and maintain a sufficient scale of chromium oxide to protect it under high temperature conditions.It is more resistant to high temperatures than traditional chrome-nickel stainless steel such as 304.High nickel content makes it better anti-oxidation performance than the standard 18-8 stainless steel.Its oxidation resistance is not inferior to the use of higher grade alloys with temperatures up to 1900 degrees Fahrenheit (1038 ° C).Therefore, the 840 (S33400) alloy is an ideal material for the manufacture of electric heating pipes, automotive emission control systems and other high temperature resistant products.
